
TOEFL
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a globally recognized standardized exam that measures your academic English proficiency. It is primarily required for non-native speakers applying to universities and professional programs in English-speaking countries, as well as for immigration and career purposes.
Test Format
The most common version of the exam is the TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test), which can be taken either at an official test center or from home. It evaluates four key language skills:
Reading (35 minutes): 3-4 reading passages followed by comprehension questions.
Listening (36 minutes): Listening to academic lectures and conversations, then answering questions.
Speaking (16 minutes): Expressing opinions on familiar topics and discussing material you read and listened to.
Writing (29 minutes): Writing an academic summary and a response to an academic discussion.
Scores and Fees
Score Scale: Each of the 4 sections is scored from 0–30, giving a total maximum score of 120.
- Requirements: Most universities require an overall score above 80, while highly competitive graduate or MBA programs often require 100 or more.
- Validity: Your scores are valid for 2 years from the test date.
